Marmonix MVF-2100 Vortex Flow Meter for Liquid, Gas and Steam

The Marmonix MVF-2100 vortex flow meter measures liquid, gas or steam by counting the vortices that a triangular bluff body sheds into the stream, so there are no moving parts in the flow. Its datasheet gives ±0.75% of reading on liquids and ±1.0% on gas and steam, flange or flange-card (wafer) bodies from DN15 to DN300, an insertion version from DN100 to DN2000, SS304 or SS316 wetted parts, 1.6, 2.5 or 4.0 MPa ratings, IP65 and ExdIIB T6 Gb. It outputs 4–20 mA (two-wire) or pulse (three-wire) with RS485 and runs on 24 VDC or a 3.6 V lithium battery. How vortex meters are applied on steam and utility lines

Plant engineers often need one meter type that can cover boiler steam, compressed air and process water. A vortex meter suits that mix because the shedding frequency is proportional to velocity over a wide flow range, whatever the fluid.

ISO 12764 describes flowrate measurement with vortex-shedding meters in full circular pipes. In practice that means a full pipe, enough straight run upstream and downstream, and a size chosen so normal flow sits inside the stable range. The MVF-2100 sizing table illustrates this: a DN50 body is listed for about 3–50 m³/h of water or 30–300 m³/h of air in its standard range.

On steam, the volume reading is usually turned into mass using temperature and pressure. The MVF-2100 model code includes temperature, pressure or combined compensation options for that job, and the datasheet lists wet, saturated and superheated steam among its applications.
