Marmonix MTF-4300 Thermal Mass Flowmeter for Nitrogen
Thermal gas mass flow meter MTF-4300 is designed on the basis of thermal dispersion, and adopts method of constant differential temperature to measuring gas flow.
The Marmonix MTF-4300 nitrogen flow meter is a thermal-dispersion mass flow meter for nitrogen and other gases (except acetylene), measuring 0.5–100 Nm/s in DN10–DN2000 pipe or DN80–DN4000 insertion versions. Two platinum resistance sensors give mass or standard volume flow without temperature and pressure compensation in principle, with pulse and 4–20 mA output plus RS485 or HART. Nitrogen Thermal Gas Flow Meter MTF-4300
Thermal gas mass flow meter MTF-4300 is designed on the basis of thermal dispersion, and adopts method of constant differential temperature to measuring gas flow. It has advantages of small size, easy installation, high reliability and high accuracy, etc.
The meter contains two platinum resistance temperature sensors. The thermal principle operates by monitoring the cooling effect of a gas stream as it passes over a heated sensor. Gas flowing through the sensing section passes over two sensors one of which is used conventionally as a temperature sensor, whilst the other is used as a heater. The temperature sensor monitors the actual process values whilst the heater is maintained at a constant differential temperature above this by varying the power consumed by the sensor. The greater the gas velocity, the greater the cooling effect and power required to maintain the differential temperature. The measured heater power is therefore a measure of the gas mass flow rate.
Nitrogen Thermal Gas Flow Meter MTF-4300 Features
Main features of the MTF-4300:
- Measuring the mass flow or volume flow of gas
- Do not need to do temperature and pressure compensation in principle with accurate measurement and easy operation
- Wide range: 0.5Nm/s~100Nm/s for gas. The meter also can be used for gas leak detection
- Good vibration resistance and long service life. No moving parts and pressure sensor in transducer, no vibration influence on the measurement accuracy.
- Easy installation and maintenance. If the conditions on site are permissible, the meter can achieve a hot-tapped installation and maintenance. (Special order of custom-made)
- Digital design, high accuracy and stability
- Configuring with RS485 or HART interface to realize factory automation and integration

Questions about the MTF-4300 nitrogen flow meter
Can the MTF-4300 be used for gas leak detection?
Yes, the MTF-4300 feature list says the meter can also be used for gas leak detection, and its range starts at 0.5 Nm/s. It has no moving parts and no pressure sensor in the transducer, so vibration does not affect the reading.
What temperature and pressure can the MTF-4300 handle?
The MTF-4300 sensor works from -40 to +220 ℃ and the transmitter from -20 to +45 ℃, with working pressure up to 2.5 MPa for the insertion type and 4.0 MPa for the pipe type. Sensor housings are SS304 or SS316, and the transmitter is rated IP65.
What is the difference between the MTF-4300 and MTF-4400?
The MTF-4300 and MTF-4400 have the same published specifications on marmonix.co (0.5–100 Nm/s, DN10–DN4000, same outputs and accuracy); the MTF-4300 is listed for nitrogen and the MTF-4400 for oxygen. When you ask for a quote, give the gas, pipe size, pressure and temperature so the right MTF-4300 model code (structure, sensor type, material, pressure, temperature, power and output) is chosen.
