Marmonix MEF-8200 (MEF8200 / MEF 8200) Flanged Electromagnetic Flow Meter, DN3–DN3000
Flange Electromagnetic Flow Meter MEF-8200 is one of the most popular flow meters. It is widely used for all conductive liquids in every industry, such as water, acid, etc.
The Marmonix MEF-8200 electromagnetic flow meter (also typed MEF8200 or MEF 8200) is a flanged mag meter for any liquid above 5 µS/cm, from DN3 to DN3000, at ±0.5% as standard with ±0.3% or ±0.2% available. The bore is open, with nothing that moves or narrows the flow, and it measures in both directions. Liner, electrode metal and structure (integral, remote, submersible or ex-proof) are chosen per liquid; outputs are 4–20 mA and pulse with RS485, and HART or GPRS/GSM can be added. Built-in diagnostics raise empty-pipe and excitation alarms, alongside upper and lower limit alarms. See the full range of Marmonix flow meters, or the MEF-8300 insertion mag meter for DN100–DN3000 lines where a probe on a support rod suits better than a flanged spool.
Flange Electromagnetic Flow Meter MEF-8200
Electromagnetic flow meter MEF-8200 is one of the most popular flow meters. Flange type electromagnetic flow meter has been used for more than 50 years worldwide. It is widely used for all conductive liquids in every industry, such as water, acid, alkali, milk, slurry etc. The main advantages of using electromagnetic flow meter is that it is with no moving parts, no pressure loss and require very less maintenance.
Flange Electromagnetic Flow Meter MEF-8200 Features
Why plants choose the MEF-8200:
- The main advantages of using electromagnetic flow meter is that it is with no moving parts, no pressure loss and require very less maintenance.
- Flange type magnetic flow meter can be made large size range from DN3-DN3000mm and with bi-directional flow measurement. Marmonix mag flow meters are with built-in self-diagnosis function and support data record / Bluetooth function and various kinds of output signals.

Case study: matching liner and electrode to the liquid before ordering
Most mag-meter failures trace back to a wetted material that the liquid attacks, not to the electronics. The MEF-8200 datasheet includes an electrode guide and liner temperature limits, so the order can be checked against the process sheet first.
Electrode choices as the datasheet describes them:
- SUS316L: industrial and municipal water, wastewater and mildly corrosive liquids.
- Hastelloy B: hydrochloric acid below its boiling point; the datasheet also names sulphuric, phosphoric, hydrofluoric and organic acids.
- Hastelloy C: strong oxidising salts and acids, for example nitric or mixed acids.
- Titanium: seawater, chloride and hypochlorite solutions; not for high-purity reducing acids like sulphuric or hydrochloric.
- Tantalum: all chemicals except hydrofluoric acid, oleum and alkali.
Liner limits then decide integral or remote build:
- Integral meter: −20 to +60 °C liquid.
- Remote with neoprene, hard rubber, polyurethane or EPDM: −10 to +80 °C.
- Remote with PTFE, PFA or FEP: −10 to +160 °C.
So a seawater cooling line points to titanium electrodes, while hot dosing of a strong acid points to a fluoropolymer liner on a remote converter. The meter is then mounted on a rising section or at a low point, on the pump outlet side, with 10 diameters of straight pipe before it and 5 after, and away from motors, transformers and frequency drives.
MEF-8200 mag meter: short answers
How much flow does a DN50 MEF-8200 cover?
About 3.5 m³/h at 0.5 m/s up to about 106 m³/h at 15 m/s, from the datasheet velocity table. The suggested working band is 0.5 to 15 m/s.
Which electrode suits seawater or chlorinated water?
Titanium, which the datasheet lists for seawater, chloride and hypochlorite solutions. SUS316L covers ordinary water and wastewater.
How much straight pipe does the MEF-8200 need?
10 pipe diameters upstream and 5 downstream. Fit it after the pump, not at the pump inlet, and on a rising or low section so the tube stays full.
