Questions about the MDCS dual-view borehole camera

What is the difference between the 100 m, 150 m, 200 m and 300 m MDCS models?

The MDCS models differ only in cable length; the camera head, monitor, DVR, battery and all other features are the same. Choose a cable longer than the deepest well or longest run you expect to inspect.

Why does the MDCS have two camera views?

The MDCS head combines a down-looking camera and a side-looking camera; the side camera has manual focus and rotates 360°, so you can stop at any depth and inspect the full wall of the well, casing or pipe. High-power LEDs light both views behind sapphire or tempered glass.

MDCS dual-view or MDCS-40M/60M: which should I choose?

Choose the MDCS dual-view system for deep boreholes, water wells and runs of 100–300 m, and the MDCS-40M/60M for DN50–DN200 drains and sewers up to 60 m, where its 28 mm pan-tilt head fits smaller pipes. The dual-view system has a gross package weight of 85 kg (68 × 49 × 100 cm).

Case study: inspecting boreholes and water wells

In a typical well inspection, the borehole, water well or vertical shaft can be tens or hundreds of metres deep, so problems such as collapsed casing, blocked screens or debris cannot be seen from the top.

A dual-view borehole camera is lowered on its cable while the operator switches between the down view, to see what lies ahead, and the rotating side view, to inspect the casing wall. A digital depth counter records how far down each feature is, and the DVR saves video, photos and audio comments.

Well owners and drilling or maintenance contractors use the recording to locate damage at a known depth and plan cleaning or repair work.
